NASTRO is an eclectic duo based in Rome, well-known for an amazing and intense live set and for their arty and wacky approach to the music: no rules for them!
"Nastro" means "Tape" in Italian:
This cassette is entirelly recorded and mixed on the Tascam Porta07, 4 track analog recorder.
Recorded and mixed directly on tape without any digital hardware or software.
This EP follows the great last 2 LPs from nastro. "300mq" and "Terzo Mondo", both release on Upside Down Recordings.
They began recording new stuff with a deep idea of doing an hip hop album, with rythmic drums and groove bass: but the raw material slowly changed in their hands, bringing them in a totally different direction.
They started working and exploiting the deep features of the Tascam, plus modulated feedbacks, saturation, few instruments (sax, slide guitars, a broken Korg Polysix, bass) but their main instrument is the sound coming from the tape: the result is an ambient drone album which sounds unusually groovy and with a unconscious pop structure. Class!

Genre-defying electronic music that at times operates at the slow stutter-step of dubstep and others with the drift of ambient. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 9, 2022
